Applying for a Marriage License

Both individuals must appear in person to apply for a marriage license. Each person needs to bring with them their birth certificate and a valid photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport.
Out of state residents may apply for a marriage license but you must get married in the same county that issues the marriage license. Ohio residents may get married in any county, but at least one of you must be a resident of the county where you apply for the marriage license.
If either person previously has been married, that person will need to present a copy of the final order of divorce or dissolution for all prior marriages.
If either person is under the age of 18 years, please contact the Court prior to making application. There are special provisions that must satisfied in such a situation.
A marriage license is good for sixty (60) days. If you do not get married within sixty (60) days, you will need to make a new application.
The cost of a marriage license is Sixty Dollars ($60.00). The Court accepts cash, checks and money orders. No debit card nor credit card payments are accepted.
The Court’s regular business hours are Monday – Friday for 8:00am to 4:00pm. The Court is closed for all official holidays. When apply for a marriage license, we ask that you arrive prior to 3:00pm so we can process the application before the work day is completed.
